Restoration of Hi-Johnson Tank

Attached is the Hi-Johnson tank which was so rusty and looks like a garbage before :(

I resolved it completely and re-assembled with a new tubing spec for the air pressure & the more durable tank mount. :)
It's getting looks nicer right now. :D

whaouh !! great work !! I always have to welded mine , but all drill are done !! I'm really a slow worker

are you using a filter ( like dubro sintered bronze filter ) inside the tank ?

Hello MK4 :)
I do not use the dubro filter inside of the tank.Metal tube is down to a small reserver directly.
But I use the classic style filter like attached which is Webra one. 8)

MK4 I prefer the turbo torch like attached for welding because of getting more cleaner
and easy for the welding process 8)

Your mean must be the small piece which mounted at the bottom of the tank as attached. :)
It's the original position by ASSOCIATED. :wink:

Oops! I see. Mine is ASSOCIATED original.
This piece is a kind of small dish for painting. Maybe we can buy it at the shop of painting equipment.
Let me check out ,too :D

Actually the vintage tank is mostly a bad shape. I always had a big headache as well.
Your tank must be getting better after re-assembling and hard polish with sand paper.
I always remake it by myself 8)

The tank of center on your photo is for DELTA.
Bottom one must be for ASSOCIATED.
Top one is for -------- Hand-made maybe.Top cap is DELTA's one

The metal tank is a quite important piece for the Vintage racer anyway :D

You're right the tank in the center came off a DELTA. Do you know what the main differences are between an ASSOCAITED and DELTA tank setup? Is it that the V shape part of the fuel tank for an ASSO is on the top and on the bottom for a DELTA fuel tank. :?:

The process for the restoration of TANK is also very fun. Please do not rush and take your time for completion.
You have a couple of the other tank which is not assembled. It's very possibility to create it :ok:

Regarding the setup of the tank between ASSO and DELTA, It's just upside down :D
Flat surface top is for DELTA and V shape top is for ASSO basically.
But I think that the design is up to the personal image. It should be cool :!: :wink:

I'll take my time and won't rush it. I have already prepared all the tools, such as the mini torch, mini pipe bender and I found special acid flux solder with silver which is perfect for soldering the tanks together. Just waiting for the right time and mood to start doing it. :D I love vintage hi-johnson fuel tank

I personally like the DELTA tank setup better with the flat part on top. :ok:

Heu eu yep guy's superb inputs thx :ok: ....I use a "Weller" torch which is a pretty good professional material :wink:
Important is that it does the job right anyway :lol:
