Yankee Buggy 78 - Restoration/Rebuild
Bonjour amis!
Some months ago bought this Buggy 78 through this forum.
Buggy is quite in a good state and good basis for restoration/rebuild.
I will start to disassamble the thing, refurbish parts and put it together again - but i think this will take quite a while.
I am going to post updates on the rebuild on this thread, from time to time.

Creation d'un chassis plat
As the original chassis plate looks not very pretty and is not that stable, i decided to create my own.
The 3D renderings/designs show how the final product shall look like.
Plate will be made out of 2,5 mm FR4 epoxy and should be very strong. So lets see how it will come out ...

Erreur souvent faite sur le 78 : voir notice de montage, la traverse avant se monte de l'autre côté de la platine !!
ce montage est bon :

Yes, but why not keeping with the original ? It is a bit of a pity to loose the original aspect of the car don't you think so ?garros a écrit :outta_control a écrit :I think the futuristic touch comes from 3D software used to visualize the idea.
The material used (FR4 epoxy) is plain old school. As used in the early days of RC.

Thanks for the advise! I know that it's mounted not as per instruction manual. Front axle of a few of the Buggy 78 in Musee virtuel on this site are also mounted "wrong". I will decide about the mounting way when car is finished and reassambled. Depends on which way the car looks better - "wrong" or "right".

One-Off Wheels finished!
The Wolfrace-like aluminium wheels are fnished. Design is same/similar to the ones i did for my Enduro 80. But the front wheels for Buggy 78 are a bit wider. And the finish is with satin silver anodizing.
Appearance is pretty nice - authentic 60s/70s beach buggy looks.
Maybe i will mount the front axle the correct way - as per manual. To make the front lower. May decide later.

Well, Thx for your opinion. I see it differently. The changes of wheels and plate are subtle. Could have been optional parts back then.eric-Z a écrit :I must admit this is all an impressive work, but if you'd like me to be frank, I have to say I prefer the original.
Also seeing the original parts are being dispersed makes me something.

The only flaw this build may face is that it should have been realized about 30 years ago.
