Kyosho Burns rebirth
Hope you don't mind my English. it's better than my French.
I've had a Burns for a while now, did some work to it. It rides, still work to do, but currently I don't have the time for it.
I'll just show some pics.
I never intend to restore a car to its original state. I like the old cars for their simplicity and they are cheap if you look good. (paid for this empty chassis 15 euros).
Here we go, as I got it:
The main gear is in perfect order.
Small damage, but I turne it upside down, so at the moment no problem.
This alu part doens't look to be original, I'll make it nicer.
The chassis was nice but must have seen some salt or so.
Minor damage to the gears here, but I got spares by now, eventhough they still work.
Hardly no wear. A good start.

First steps. Cleaning, greasing, and made a new brake disc.
As I said, I don't care much for originality, what I don't have, I try to make or fit in.
The original wheel have 19m hex on a Burns. I wanted to use other 17mm hex wheels I have. You can buy hexes like that, but I like to make things. So with a lathe and a file I made this: works great!
I also made a new bumper out of a piece of plastic (heating and deforming).

Wheels I liked and got from a friend:
For my job, I am a prototyper, so I made this radiobox. The original radioplate I didn't like (I have 2 spares now if someone is interested)
I'm also making mudguards out of ABS.

For the body, I didn't have an original one, and even if I did, I don't like it.
I had an old Flying Probe body, ready for the rubbish, but still, the shape fittet nicely over the chassis.
So I started working with epoxy and glassfiber. The body is starting to get shape, but I haven't had time to finish this one yet.
The spoiler mount: built from parts I had lying around
Under the body:
This is how it is at the moment. it's been lying still for a few months and I don't expect to have time soon.
But: I'd like to finish it of course, and I intend to.

Hy! Vintager.
I like your jobs too, you are making nice home-made parts, so the original body shell is also available (you know because you don't like it )
I like Burns and Turbo-Burns too. If you don't have much time to finish your car yet, it is right for running now
Very good jobs
Vincent.
Excuse me for my english, i doing my best

When I have a gear in good condition, I usually make a silicon mold of it and cast a few copies in PUR or epoxy (so I can keep the originzl one). I did this with succes for an old PB (zie my ID pic), my Buffalo and smaller cars. However in this case, none of the materials I tried (even filled with glass fibres), could stand the engine power.le.pat a écrit :
Good work.
The white main gear is an original parts? or option? or another brand that you had adapted?
So the white one was a high shore PUR, but like my other attemps, it only lasted a few minutes
So now I run the original plastic gear for the moment. I found the after market steel gear to order, but I cost twice as much as I payed for the car, which is a bit over the top for me. I like my hobbies cheap.
Next option I want to try now is a laser cut gear in plexi. At work I recently bought a lasercutter, so loks like a nice case.
I try to have (self made) spare parts because I like to have my cars as runners, shelf queens are for pussies

Your English is better than my French...
I'm Flemish by the way.
I only know the original body shell from pictures. And no, I don't like it to say the least...
