Bumper finished

Allright. New bumper is finished. It's made out of POM plastic, dark grey color. You can see dimensions are different to the old bumper. Shape follows more the shape of the front of the 917 body. http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n114/mika_77/Bumperfinished1_zps7decc94a.jpg http://i110.photobucket....

New Bumper

As you can see the project is almost finished. Just the bumper needs to be shorter. So i designed a new one. Shape is same as original, but shorter.
Production already launched - can't wait to get the finished part.

Body painted, decals applied

Voila! Project almost finished! After painting the body (which took quite a while) i applied the custom made decals. The body now looks like Porsche 917 numero 21 like in movie "Le Mans" with Steve McQueen. What i am not so happy with is the front bumper ... seems to be too long. http://i110.photobu...

I must admit this is all an impressive work, but if you'd like me to be frank, I have to say I prefer the original. Also seeing the original parts are being dispersed makes me something. Z Well, Thx for your opinion. I see it differently. The changes of wheels and plate are subtle. Could have been ...

One-Off Wheels finished!

The Wolfrace-like aluminium wheels are fnished. Design is same/similar to the ones i did for my Enduro 80. But the front wheels for Buggy 78 are a bit wider. And the finish is with satin silver anodizing. Appearance is pretty nice - authentic 60s/70s beach buggy looks. Maybe i will mount the front a...

Wolfrace Style Wheels

My Buggy 78 project will get some new one-off wheels. The design is created after the classic "Wolfrace" Style which was popular in the 70s and could be seen on beach Buggies back then. Wheels - front & rear - will have the same size/dimension like the original wheels. The finish will be aluminium. ...

Semi Assembled

After stripping down my little Enduro, refurbishing and replacing old/broken parts/screws and further designing and producing new ones such as wheels & tires, the little racer now is in semi-assembled state. The black/gold/silver concept works well. Old skool kool - like no other. I also mounted one...

New Wheels Ready

Specially designed aluminium wheels are here. I made the 3D drawings of the wheels earlier several weeks ago. Between drawings and finished wheels is a period of about 1 month. Dimensions are same as original rims. Result is pretty nice with the gold anodizing. Gold color matches the new chassis pla...

Thanks for the advise! I know that it's mounted not as per instruction manual. Front axle of a few of the Buggy 78 in Musee virtuel on this site are also mounted "wrong". As long as the Part is done like back then, in the good old days, materialwise i have no Problem with it. Further the white plate is standard Material. So original style plate could be made and then converted back to original specs easily. :P

Received the finished chassis plate today. It came out as my design. Made of FR4 epoxy, with 2,5 mm thickness. Plate ist very hard and stable. I also let print a white Yankee outline Logo on it to honor the brand. In the next step i will check how it fits the Buggy. http://i110.photobucket.com/album...

Started to strip the Enduro 80 down. Next i sorted out all metal parts and gave it away for chroming and black chroming (to the right on the photo). The result is bright and shiny and looks like this:

Steering fixed!

Just finished steering. Front axle has some ball ends with a threaded bar that is covered with shrink tube. Steerings on Servo Saver and Servo are some vintage Tamiya in right length. Fits perfect!
